In an in class exercise, we were told that we have $140,000 after taxes and $10,000 in savings between two adults and one 16 year old male. We lived in a house that had not yet been paid for. We had two cars, only one was paid for.
We spent the money on what we did because we had plenty of money to do whatever we wanted, but we also didn't really think it was necessary to buy everything. And at the end we still had $62,078.25 to put into savings. I felt completely at ease during the budgeting process because we, in no way, had any problems with money. No, there weren't really any difficult choices I had to make.
On the random event card we were sorry to find out that we had received $200. It didn't really affect much in our budgeting process, except that it pushed our total savings up to $62,278.25.

Social Imagination
I am affected by my home, friends, gender, age and race. My parents taught me to be who I am today while I was a child; And I would not be the person I am today if they had not raised me the way they did. Being a male has made my personality more like a man's than a woman's. Personally, I am glad to be a male in a society that is just learning to accept females. Being Caucasian has, at times in my life, made me feel like I am the "main" race, but I have realized that I am just one of the many people in the world and that we are all different. My friends have made me a better person by kindly improving how I feel and act around other people. They make me feel better about who I am and new social environments I may encounter. People may see me as just a teen, but I see myself as fairly mature. And being a teen has caused me to become more mature because I have to grow up in order to be a part of society.
